India’s coal + renewables mix makes for messy energy transition: Maguire

There is no energy transition in India. Just today I listened to a podcast on the gas market in India and we learned that new gas in India does not replace coal but much rather oil products as those are more expensive. It’s a time-tested model. Let’s also throw in that India has a smog problem. Reducing coal would help quite a lot of course but reducing the emissions of badly refined fuels does its thing too. India does not have the luxury to waste trillions on a political scam. Their people need fundamental needs covered. They do what works best for them. Good on them.
