Lost In Transmission: Connecting Remote Wind & Solar To Cities Will Cost $Trillions

Yes, connecting those facilities to cities will be expensive but it won’t be nearly as expensive as building balancing facilities that equal out the intermittence of those power sources. Pumped storage, batteries, synthetic gas facilities, and whatnot to store energy for when it is needed and not when the weather gods like us. Needless to say that all those trillions of spending are on the back of wind and solar as conventional energy options don’t need this crazy grid expansion. They produce when power is needed, not when it feels like it. And wind plus solar still claim to be cheap when in fact they crush our economies under their cost.
