Low atmospheric CO2 levels before the rise of forested ecosystems

By historical standards, our current CO2 count is abysmally low. And I am choosing my words carefully here. The planet started out in an atmosphere that was almost only CO2 once. Not a place where you want to live for sure as with CO2 it’s like with calories. Too much will kill you, but too little will kill you for sure. Plants die without CO2. What are we or any lifeform going to eat when plants die? Mineral extracts? The greenest, lushest period in Earth’s history was the Jurrasic. It was when life was at its most spectacular. Back then CO2 was more than 6 times higher than today.
