Russia set to mothball damaged Nord Stream gas pipelines

This all comes at a very interesting time. Because just now the largest Russian legacy fields Urengoy and Yamburg are supposed to deplete. Those fields are monsters and they account for a massive proportion of gas that Russia produces every year so their disappearance must make quite an impact. Yamal is significant but it cannot replace those two fields. Also, gas from Yamal is substantially more expensive so the fiction of cheap Russian gas must die about now. If I were one of the responsible managers at Gazprom, the explosions and mothballing would be the best thing happening ever.
