TotalEnergies pushes back Papua LNG FID to 2025

There was a time when LNG projects attempted to be more efficient and to be built and operated for less money. Innovation and optimization were the name of the game. One looked very hard if a particular gas resource was worth it. Then something changed. All of a sudden the only thing that seemed to matter was that the gas existed. Little did the geological and geographic realities matter and economics went out of the window altogether. If you need stellar markets to make your project fly, you dance on a volcano all the time. Time to come back to realistic assessments of projects. This will mean not every project makes it to the finishing line.
