Upstream Oil and Gas Industry Needs Consolidation

The oil industry does not need consolidation. It needs fresh blood. Consolidation usually means that the sick pairs up with the one-legged and later even with the one-eyed. The oil industry needs a cleanout of those not fit for the next round need to go away. Helping those with a limp survive only crimps the market.

The upstream oil and gas industry is ripe for consolidation, according to analysts at Evercore ISI.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
