Which part of “economic” does the World Economic Forum not understand?

People don’t get it. They simply don’t care that massive amounts of money feed ventures that will never do anything but destroy value. They often don’t care because they either don’t give two damns, or they hope that they might get some of the crumbs, or they are in the thick of it. This makes most people apathetic. Plus, the price you pay if you don’t howl with the pack is pretty drastic so there is plenty of peer pressure. Politicians use those dynamics to spray public money everywhere. You don’t need to be a Nobel laureate to smell that this won’t work forever.
