The UK is much closer to blackouts than anyone dares to admit

Who do they want to scare with that? People just don’t care. Some will of course, as there is always a tiny minority of people that think about better solutions to anything. And many of them (I am still talking about the minority) think that they could solve the problem if only they had leverage. But they can’t. The only thing that works is massive, shocking consequences. There were plenty of voices in Israel warning of a very large attack from Gaza. There was plenty of intelligence confirming it. However, the majority population did not want to make hard choices. Now they have no other option. We will have to enjoy the consequences of our idiocy at large. A week-long blackout would be a good thing. Everyone would suffer and it would stay in our collective minds for longer than 12 hours.

I was introduced to and met Rudi in Angola when he started to develop his Sub Saharan Africa network. At the time he worked for EconGas/OMV and he tried organizing longterm LNG supply for them under the unlikeliest of all circumstances.
